      Hello,



      Regarding Francis Lucinda Snow (1840 - 1916). As you know, she married Absalom Brown in Randolph County, Arkansas on 9 Feb 1868 because it is recorded in the Arkansas, County Marriages Index, 1837-1957. Your tree shows that she married David B Ward, before that on 27 Jun 1860. I have not been able to find any source on that. Would you mind telling me how you determined that? Or that Mr Ward died in 1864?



      Absalom Brown is my 3rd Great Grandfather and I am just trying to learn all I can.

      james regarding francis snow info that I have came from old bible snow bible given to the ward family it list francis parents brothers and sisters as far as finding documented proof of marriage and death of david ward is what is in bible and birth of francis son joseph Henley ward they came from Georgia and how they arrived in Arkansas no idea the bible was in Arkansas so how it got there is a question there is one note about a rebca arable brown born nov 28 1852 and absolum brown born 3 june 1807 and died 9 oct 1879 maybe the bible was with francis the wards lived in Randolph co Arkansas I have hit a dead in with the wards I believe david was in civil war and possible died during his service . would be glad to hear from you on any back ground info you might have thanks Marilyn perdue

      Thanks for responding. The note regarding a Rebca Arable Brown found with the Snow Family Bible given to the Wards, seems to apply to Sylvania Arabella Brown, a daughter of Absalom who married George Haywood Thompson. Find A Grave shows her birth at 28 Nov 1852, just like in the note. She also shows up in the 1860 census living in Randolph County with Absalom Brown and his first wife, and other children.



      Based on my research on Ancestry, I can conclude that in 1870, Lucinda Francis Ward was living with Absalom in Randolph County, AR. Her son, listed as J. H. Ward, 8, is staying nearby in a dwelling with other children of Absalom; William, (William A.) S.Q., (Sterling Quincy) J. L., (Jefferson Lafayette), and R. A. Brown, 18. An interesting little point about R. A. Brown, it lists him in the occupation column, "keeping house" which is normally always attached to housewives. I would bet that since R. A. is about the right age, that this person is wrongly listed as a male and that R. A. is Sylvania Arabella. She was listed as "Sylvania" in the census in 1860, but I wonder if somehow her name was actually or also Rebecca. Arkansas death index only lists her as Belle Thompson, died 10 Jan 1928 in Washington County, AR.



      The whole bunch of them including Lucinda Francis Ward and her son moved from Randolph County to Washington County. The 1880 Census in Washington County, AR shows Lucinda Francis Brown, Widowed, 40, living with her son Joseph H. Ward, 18, and someone named only Drum?? age 25. They are living nearby to one of Absalom's sons, Jefferson Lafayette Brown and his family. I am assuming here that Absalom is deceased. Another source I have said Absalom lived to 1883, but perhaps that isn't correct.



      I believe that awhile after Absalom died, Lucinda Francis moved with her son back to Randolph County. Joseph Henley Ward married Josie Lurena Ingram (1868 - 1938) there. They had a least 3 children, Edgar Ward (1890 - ??), Carlos E. Ward (1892 - 1960), and Roy Ward (1897 - 1960). I found much more regarding their descendants.



      Although I found plenty of references to D. B. Ward and also David B. Ward on Fold3 as far as his enlistment in the Confederate Army in Georgia, I still haven't been able to connect him to Francis Ward.



      I have every confidence in the information you have regarding Lucinda Francis Ward's parents and brothers and sisters in the Snow family. I only wish it had been photocopied or photographed. If you have any such copies, I would be grateful to see them. I will keep scouring all the records I can find and if I can be of any help to you in any way, let me know.

      My plan is to scan them and post them as sources so that others who may be interested in any of these people would be able to access them as well. To give you an example, there are many pages on Ancestry and other sites regarding Absalom Brown, and no one has ever provided an exact date of birth for him, yet your Bible records provide that. Yours is the only family tree that I have found that has any information on Francis Lucinda Snow beyond just the fact that one Francis Ward married Absalom Brown on 9 Feb 1868. I will certainly reference you by your Ancestry name perdue13 as the original provider of that information. Also, if there is any information in there regarding Absalom's first wife, that would be great. Of course, I am very interested in any information of any person referenced in those Bible records.
